Saturday night in Los Angeles: The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, the U.S. Drama prizes awarded by Hollywood’s Actors Guild, have been presented. And they are usually the harbingers for the following Academy Awards (this year March 2).

At this year’s SAG Awards Benedict Cumberbatch was one of the most outstanding stars of the evening. The online edition of the Huffington Post Canada designated Benedict even as “King of the SAG Awards 2014″.

A mark of respect for sure not only stated due to his elegant suit, the many nice photos for the journalists and the large amount of fans, but probably because of his double nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

His amazing performances in 12 Years A Slave as „good“ slaveholder William Ford as well as in August: Osage County as little Charles could not gain a prize finally, Benedict, nonetheless, was the winner of this exciting evening. Even as presenter on stage Benedict was poised and very British. Besides his colleagues such as Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Tina Fey, John Goodman, Pauley Perrette, Jeremy Renner and many others he announced one of the popular awards.

This year, the SAG Awards were allocated for the 20th time. The winners are elected by the more than 100,000 members of the Actors Guild and are awarded for acting performances only.

The winners:
Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture: American Hustle
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role: Matthew McConaughey for “Dallas Buyers Club”
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role: Cate Blanchett for “Blue Jasmine”.
(Both won this year’s Golden Globe for their Performances, too.)
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role: Jared Leto für “Dallas Buyers Club”
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role: Lupita Nyong’o für “12 Years a Slave”.
