Kafka’s “The Metamorphosis” read by Benedict – world class literature as an audio book.

Metamorphosis was written in 1912 by Franz Kafka and takes a special position in his complete works. The piece was read by Benedict Cumberbatch in 4 episodes which aired from 9 – 14 May, 2008 on BBC Radio 7.

“One morning, when Gregor Samsa woke from troubled dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a horrible vermin”. – For the middle-class family the world collapses. Instead of their son and brother, who earned the families keep, a vermin now sits in his room. Isolated and useless, only looked after by his sister Grete, an everyday life in the Samsa family seems no longer possible. Each encounter leads to disaster.
