|Star Trek Into Darkness started in Germany with a spectacular and technically complex premiere in Berlin on 29 April 2013.
It is already the twelfth feature film about the adventures of the Starship Enterprise crew, also based on the cult TV Series Star Trek, created by Gene Roddenberry, with William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk and Leonard Nimoy as the most famous extraterrestrial fellow Vulcan Mr. Spock.
In the run up to the release Paramount relesed 14 poster announcement including animated Flash versions. In addition, there have been Announcement Trailers already in December last year, three more teasers, another international trailer in March 2013 and one in April 2013. For the German speaking fans, however, only the announcement trailer, a teaser, which was produced for the Super Bowl and the international teaser have been released in German.
The first published poster was already nominated at the Golden Trailer Awards in the category Best Summer 2013 Blockbuster Poster Award, the Super Bowl trailer, moreover, received a nomination for Best Summer Blockbuster 2013 TV Spot.
The soundtrack used for the first teasers is The Awakening by Brian Tyler. For the Super Bowl spot Siege Towers by Audiomachine was used, the latest trailers gave us Knightfall by Immediate Music and Icarus performed by Superhuman.
The official advertising campaign for the film started on the 24th of March 2013 in London. In an extraordinary show Paramount sent 30 mini-quadrocopter into the sky, which there formed the famous Star Trek logo. The magnificent spectacle was realized by the Austrian Ars Electronica Futurelab from Linz, which can proudly say to be the only one that can offer this sophisticated technical know-how for a spectacle like this worldwide, the mini-flying robots were produced by Ascending Technologies in Munich.
Director JJ Abrams created a top-class sci-fi adventure. On board the Enterprise crew is “Captain James T. Kirk” Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto as Spock, Benedict Cumberbatch will appear as his terrifying opponent John Harrison in an unusual role as a dangerous enemy, one the Enterprise crew never faced before.
