Benedict and 14 other stars in a special charity gala for Dramatic Need at the Old Vic theatre, directed by Danny Boyle

On 14 November 2010 a special charity gala for the organisation Dramatic Need took place at the Old Vic theatre. 15 actors (including Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Redmayne, Sir Ben Kingsley, Hattie Morahan), writers and director Danny Boyle presented as a series of monologues, which are based on stories of children who Dramatic Need has helped in the past. The children were asked to recall the happiest and saddest moments of their lives.
Benedict took the role of a mission worker named Shephard in South Africa who helped a boy when he was caught stealing.

Dramatic Need is a charity organization dedicated to help children in Africa. In the face of trauma, poverty and conflict in their daily environment, Dramatic Need uses creative approaches to build self-confidence and belief in oneself.
