The Snowman and The Snowdog (2012) Audio
Benedict narrates the charming Christmas story of the Snowman and Snowdog and their wonderful adventures.
The Snowman and The Snowdog is a sequel of the original, The Snowman, by Raymond Brigg. This second part was written by Hilary Audus and – in addition to the audio version (released on 29.12.2012) – was also shown as an animated film during Christmas time 2012 on Channel 4.
What is ist about:
The Snowman and The Snowdog plays 30 years after the original film and begins in the house where James (the boy from the original) once lived. A boy named Billy and his mother have just moved in along with their very old dog.
As Christmas is just around the corner, Billy’s dog dies – and so he writes a letter to Santa Claus asking for a new dog. In all his excitement, he stumbles across an old box in which he finds a picture of James and the Snowman and, moreover, a scarf, a hat, pieces of coal and a dried clementine.
Inspired by these things he walks out into the snow and builds a snowman and a snow dog. And soon after the trio embarks on a wonderful adventure…

Benedict Cumberbatch about the project:
“The magic of The Snowman is universal for every generation; as is the thrill of a first encounter with snow. And in this new story, to bring the Snowdog to life for new young readers was a joy. I hope it will become as much of a Christmas tradition as the beautiful original was when I was a boy.”
