|In this BBC Radio 4 program that aired on 27 December 2008, Benedict Cumberbatch plays the part of american dramatist T.S. Eliot.
Thomas and Vivienne married in haste in 1915, much to the distress of Vivienne’s family who believes that marriage should only take place for financial and status purposes and not for love. Although they make an effort to provide the American poet accommodation, they are still not really happy with the situation. Eliot also despises the family, especially Vivienne’s brother Maurice, who drives him crazy with his fixed idea of visiting “right” school.
